About Us
The Co-Op was first organized in the early 1970’s by some Cleveland Heights hobby potters adults who thought it would be nice to have a pottery studio space open in their community. Initially, the Co-Op was located in the Coventry area in two different locations. It then moved to the current Kensington Road location in 1978.
When the studio was first organized, a local potter, Jamie Weiss, offered to help get supplies and equipment for the coop. Gordon Roberts, an engineer, helped to build a large kiln with industrial glo-bars as the heating elements. The kiln was taken apart and then re-assembled at the Kensington Road location.
While initially, the Co-Op had kick wheels, in more recent years, we have acquired electric wheels for student and member use. In March of 2023, we elected to expand into an adjoining storefront. The additional space allows more room for members and students to work, both in making pots as well as in glazing/firing pots.
